Project Overview

Context and Objectives

During a 3-day hackathon at EFP, our team (4 UX/UI Designers and 4 developers) was challenged to design a platform for our school that helps students easily find and apply for internships.

The objective was to facilitate the search for internships by grouping offers by profession, providing expert contacts, an appointment request form with CV submission, as well as direct access to Jobibox and a search assistance toolkit.

UX Process

Day 1 - Research & Strategy

On the first day of the hackathon, our UX/UI design team focused on understanding users and defining the project’s direction.

We started by creating personas to represent different types of students looking for internships, identifying their needs, goals, and frustrations. Then, we conducted a competitive analysis to study existing internship platforms and highlight opportunities for improvement in usability and clarity.

Finally, we mapped a user flow to visualize the ideal journey — from searching to applying — ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience.

Day 2 - Wireframes and Design

The second day was dedicated to turning our insights into tangible designs.
Based on the user flow, we built low-fidelity wireframes to test the structure and hierarchy of information. Once validated, we moved on to high-fidelity mockups in Figma, applying a mobile-first approach to optimize the experience for smartphone users.

Low-Fidelity Prototype

These low-fidelity wireframes were created during the ideation stage to define the structure and user journeys prior to high-fidelity prototyping. The goal was to optimize navigation and information hierarchy.

Day 3 - Finalization & Presentation

On the final day, we refined the design details and prepared the interactive prototype for presentation.

We collaborated closely with the developer team to ensure a smooth handoff and alignment on the responsive web version.

The day ended with a pitch presentation to a panel of judges, where we showcased our design process, user insights, and final prototype. The feedback highlighted the project’s clarity, intuitive flow, and strong teamwork between designers and developers.

Conclusion

This hackathon was a valuable experience that strengthened my ability to collaborate effectively with developers and translate design decisions into feasible solutions.

Our team was proud to receive the award for Best UX Features, recognizing the clarity and usability of our prototype.
